A blue Orange P7

In the mean time here is the completed Orange P7 rebuild  ready for the off. Let me know what you think??
Ergo Levers attached and cabling for brakes and gears fitted and taped in place before applying bar tape

Ritchey Classic bars and Stem

9cm stem

Campag Athena front brake

So I have now fitted some Ritchey Classic bars and stem to match in with the Silver Campagnolo Athena 11 speed group set. I have to say I much prefer the old school silver components on a steel frame but they are so hard to source. Campag only do the Athena in silver in the higher end of their range and it would have been a dream to fit a silver super record group set  to do complete justice to Classic Mercian frame. That said the Athena group set is still very classy and I'm sure will be a joy to ride. The build is now almost complete and I will post photos of the finished bike tomorrow and let you know how its first shake down ride has gone.

Tapping the bottom bracket shell

Chain set fitted

left hand crank

So back to the Mercian Vincitore build with some frame preparation to the bottom bracket shell. First I chase out the shell to clean the threads up then I face both sides of the shell to make sure there parallel prior to fitting the campag power torque bearing cups and finally fit the chainset.

The amazing Mario Vaz with the Vintage Orange P7 frame

The re-build begins!

So The Shed has been busy over the last 2 weeks with customer services as the sun starts to shine and the bikes are brought out of the garage, its the perfect time to get your steed cleaned up and sorted for spring and ready for all those long sunny days.
Had a quick trip up to Mario's (Vaz finishes) to pick up the Vintage Orange P7 frame and started the rebuild with a return to old style XT V brakes. The Pace EVO 36 forks are a joy to service and ride really well. Hope to try it out at Afan during May.
